My New Craft Room

I am 95 % finished with my new craft room/office.  I was going to wait until I had it completely finished, but that could be another couple of weeks, even though it’s just the closet that I have to finish up.  I’ve put everything in life on hold this weekend so I could get this done to this point at least.  I am thrilled!  It’s right out of a magazine and something I’ve dreamed about for a long time!

Remember the before?

And here’s the after!

Looking in through the door.  I painted the walls that great blue color that I showed you before.  White trim…..and the curtains look awesome!

I’m an instant gratification kinda person and I HAD to have the large table in the center for cutting, sewing and crafting, but I needed a top……and ends and all that stuff you see in those great craft rooms.  What to do?  I didn’t want to spend the money and getting boards home in my little Honda wasn’t going to happen, so I had to put on my thinking cap.  I had an AH-HA moment when I remembered that in the basement was a bi-fold closet door left by the previous owners.  I ran downstairs to look it over and it’s a colonial door, but smooth on the backside, so I drug it upstairs.  I was lucky to find two small boards in the garage that I could use as a cleat on the wall to support one end and my little three draw chest for the other.  I took the shelf off of the chest and put it up against the wall to hold my fabrics.  I shimmed, screwed, leveled and aligned until I got everything just right and my new table was born!   It didn’t cost me a dime!  Everything you see in this room I already had.  Paint was all I purchased.

There are pink flowers in the curtain print, so I used a pop of bright pink on the center portion of my desk, which was also created using filing cabinets, and old door panel and a piece of plywood.

I made the little shelf with my paints on it years ago and brought it with me from the old house.  It was already pink, so it fit right on.  The chair was thrifted for $7.00 a few years ago as well.

I love this little corner.  The windows are adorable!  I’ve had this little chair for quite some time.  I painted the roses on the back a few years ago.  The candlestick lamp was also thrifted.  The shade is covered in Rachel Ashwell’s ‘Rosalee"’ fabric and trimmed in gimp and beaded fringe.

I love this will show you the closet when I get it done.  I have to take everything out of it, paint it…add another shelving unit that I have downstairs…and then organize it.  Should take about a day.

Needless to say, I want to spend all day in here!

Total cost for this make-over $28.00
