You Can't Make This Stuff Up

Guess what?  I didn't have my heart surgery today.  Imagine that.

I got up at 4:00 AM and was at the hospital by 6:00 like they told me to be.  I  get to the front desk and was told I wasn't on the schedule.  I told the woman behind the desk about who I had talked to about the appointment, and blah, blah, blah and she told me that I would have to wait until 7:00 so they could call my Cardiologist.

My Mister and I sat there for an hour and finally someone came out to talk to me.  She said that they would get me on the schedule and things would continue as planned.

I get up to the window where they put your information into the computer.....I hand her my insurance card and she says......."I'm sorry, but we don't take this insurance".

Livid doesn't even begin to describe my feelings at this point!  I told her that the surgeons nurse confirmed with me on Monday that she got authorization from the insurance company to go ahead with the procedure.  She apologized profusely and I told her it wasn't her fault, it was the surgeon's office people who were at fault.

I went home.  I was tired.  I didn't sleep well at all last night and I hadn't eaten or had any coffee.  I took care of that straight away.

The Cardiologist called me back after a few hours and said she was sorry for all the mess,  and that I would be getting a phone call from another surgeon's office. She said that I would be sent somewhere that does take my insurance.  She promised me that she would make sure this didn't happen again.

After everything that has happened to me throughout this whole journey, I don't hold out much hope.

I'll try to be more pleasant tomorrow.  ::sigh::
