You Don't Send Me Christmas Cards Anymore

I just finished up my Christmas cards and am waiting for the custom stamps I ordered so I can get them sent out. As I was doing so, I got to thinking and realized that very few people I know send Christmas cards anymore.  Why?

I decided to Google it and found various reasons why people stopped sending them.  Everything from environmental consciousness to the cost of postage.  The one that bothered me the most is....why send cards when you have the Internet?

I am truly afraid of where we are heading in our relationships with people.  I miss hand written letters, cards, phone calls and talking with people face to face.  Sometimes the only communication you get from certain people are in the form of text messages and e-mails.

Don't get me wrong, I use technology as much as anyone, but I keep it in perspective.  I never wish someone happy birthday in a text message.  My oldest son did that to me one year and chastised him for it.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but that's not the worst thing I've ever been called.  I will send out my cards, make those phone calls and get in my car to come and see ya.  That's how I want to be remembered.
